On the morning of August 24, due to prolonged heavy rain, PUB issued flood risk warnings to the Upper Bukit Timah area, Woodlands and Sunset Drive.

Due to the floodwaters along Dunearn Road (from Sime Darby to Binjai Park), traffic was not passable.

PUB's Quick Response Teams were on standby at the location to close off a portion of the road and help divert traffic.

The flash flood lasted almost an hour, and subsided at 10:50am.

According to PUB's update, the heaviest rainfall was recorded in western Singapore.

Between 7:50am and 10:40am, the rainfall station at Bukit Panjang Road collected 159.8mm of rain.

This corresponds to 109 per cent of Singapore's average monthly rainfall in August, and lies within the top 0.5 per cent of maximum daily rainfall records since 1981.

Just last week, heavy rain flooded roads at Tampines and Pasir Ris, and 25 people were evacuated from their vehicle.
