A Washington Post reporter who was covering the Olympics in Tokyo recently made an amusing discovery.

While at the press filing centre, Michelle Ye Hee Lee noticed a sign near the hot coffee dispenser that caught her eye.

There was a small sign attached to the top right of the dispenser, saying: "When coffee is all gone. It's over."

Not all the English signs were equally interesting, though.

The dispenser also had other signs such as "Hot coffee" and "Please push down the lever slowly."

One may be familiar with English signs in Japan that have gone viral for their hilarious (mis?)translations.

But in this case, however, it isn't totally clear what the intended meaning of the sign was, but if one were to hazard a guess, it meant that the dispenser will not be refilled once the contents run out.

The photos were shared to the reporter's Twitter account with a caption saying that "this is such a dramatic sign".

She, however, added that it's "not inaccurate".

Here's her tweet from July 25:

Which prompted another to share a photo of yet another "puzzling" sign from Japan:

Here's a vaguely related story from Tokyo Olympics:
