Restaurant chain Eighteen Chefs' founder and local chef Benny Se Teo has taken to Facebook with an unsatisfactory customer review after he completed his home renovation.
Floor looks like "unwashed coffee shop toilet"
In the post published on Aug. 5, Teo accused home decor firm Rice, located on Henderson Road, of poor quality floor tiles.
He claimed that after two to three months of cleaning and three rounds of "professional cleaning sessions", his floor now looks like "an unwashed coffee shop toilet".
He further said the tiles company gives the local tiles industry "a very bad name", and urged other social media users to avoid hiring them.
Chemicals left on tiles as instructed by tiles supplier: Teo
Replying to comments on his post, Teo said that chemicals were left on the tiles as instructed by Rice.
He further revealed that he paid a six-figure deposit for the renovation, and that he is seeking compensation first before getting legal representation.
He also said he "will not hesitate" to sue either Rice or the main contractor, which is T-Werkz and EME Design Haus.
A Facebook user called Steven Lim Chih, however, claimed that he got the same tiles from Rice, but the colour was still intact as he had not "acid wash(ed)" the tiles.
While Teo has commented on the tiles provider's Facebook page, no replies from the company were seen on the public platform yet.
Responding to Mothership's enquiries, however, Rice said they are currently in touch with Teo to understand his "concerns" and to "proactively address them".
While they said they are unable to comment at the time being due to "possible client's confidentiality", they said they "take every feedback seriously".
They added that they are committed to serving their clients, and to making responsible business decisions.
EME Design Haus has responded as well, and clarified that they are "still trying [their] best to resolve the tiles issue", adding that they are "not blaming anyone actually".
"Benny Se Teo is still our client and as a service provider, it's our sole focus to resolve whatever issues he may have," they said.
