34-year-old driver abandons car & runs off after crashing into road divider at Ang Mo Kio

He was identified by the police later.

A driver fled the scene after driving into the railing between the roads near ITE College Central in Ang Mo Kio, on the evening of Aug. 10.

A Mothership reader shared that a loud bang was heard, and a piece of the road divider broke off after a black car crashed into it.

Car abandoned by driver after the accident

The black car was then found parked at the other side of the road, facing in the opposite direction of the traffic.

The front end of the car was exposed.

The Mothership reader said that after the accident, the driver opened the door, abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene.

Police cars and ambulance were sighted, and police officers took down statements from eyewitnesses.

34-year-old driver investigated for careless driving

In response to Mothership's queries, the police confirmed that they were alerted to an accident involving two cars and a taxi along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 towards Yio Chu Kang Road on August 10, at 8:48pm.

The Police also confirmed that a male car driver had allegedly fled on foot prior to their arrival, but the 34-year-old driver was subsequently identified.

He will be investigated for careless driving.

No injuries were reported.
