Delivery meals seem to be a popular hangout spot for cockroaches as yet another customer in Singapore has allegedly found a critter in his dish.

In a Facebook post on Aug. 5, Kife Wee recounted how he discovered a sizeable cockroach in his pork ribs after almost finishing it.

Wee had ordered the meal from Tong Garden Seafood Restaurant, a tze char stall in Bedok, via Deliveroo.

Not the dish ordered

And to really add a twist to things, the pork ribs delivered was not what the customer originally ordered, but a dish that had been incorrectly delivered when the original order was for fish head curry.

According to Wee, Deliveroo "quickly assisted" to rectify the wrong order, but declined to retrieve the ribs, likely due to hygiene reasons.

While waiting for the fish head curry, the diners tried the pork ribs, and were down to their last two pieces when they saw an adult cockroach languishing at the bottom of the container.

"I was in disbelief at first when I saw the cockroach. In my mind I saw it and I was rejecting the fact that it was a cockroach until I used my chopstick to flip it," Wee wrote.

Wee also claimed that some of the insect's legs were missing, and felt that they could have swallowed it at some point.

When the missing order of fish head curry arrived at around the same time they discovered the cockroach, the diners had already lost their appetite.

Wee added:

"I am actually quite disappointed to see this. I have just recently moved here and also found this zichar store that I like. We have ordered a couple of times with them within the past few months. Their food is good."

According to him, Deliveroo is currently investigating the case.

Another customer provided his theory on the incident in the comments section as well:

Deliveroo responds

In response to queries from Mothership, Deliveroo said that they have spoken to the restaurant about the case, and will be refunding the customer in full.

"Food safety is an absolute priority for us and we know our customers would expect nothing less. Our restaurant partners are required to maintain the standards set in our hygiene policy, and we conduct checks as well as collect and share customer feedback regularly, to ensure food quality standards are satisfactory. We have spoken to the restaurant about this case and will be issuing a full refund to the customer."
