49 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in S'pore, 19 unlinked

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 53 cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore, as of 12pm on Wednesday (Aug. 18).

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore to 66,334.

49 locally transmitted cases

There are 49 new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infection.

30 are linked cases, of whom 23 have already been placed on quarantine, while seven cases were detected through surveillance.

19 are currently unlinked.

There is one senior above the age of 70 who is unvaccinated and at risk of serious illness.

Four imported cases

In addition, there are four imported cases that were detected and isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Three were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while one developed the illness during SHN or isolation.
