Coffeeshop at Sin Ming Road among 2 new Covid-19 clusters

Two new Covid-19 clusters were added to the Ministry of Health (MOH)'s list of active clusters on Aug. 7.

One of the new clusters is the Sin Ming 23 Coffee Shop, located at Block 23, Sin Ming Road, involving five cases.

The other cluster involves three cases who are linked to Case 66244.

There are now 128 active clusters, ranging between three and 1,143 infections.

MOH also said that an 80 year-old female Singaporean, Case 65943, passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection on Aug. 7.

81 new cases

The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 81 new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore as of 12pm on Saturday (Aug. 7).

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases reported in Singapore to 65,686.

16 unlinked cases

There are 75 new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infection.

Of these cases, 50 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. Nine are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance.

16 are currently unlinked.

Among the cases are three seniors above 70 years who are unvaccinated and at risk of serious illness.

There are six imported cases, who had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Two were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while four developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

Progress of vaccination programme

According to MOH, 68 per cent of Singapore's population has been fully vaccinated/received two doses as of Aug. 6, while 79 per cent has received at least one dose.

The total number of doses of Covid-19 vaccines administered under the national vaccination programme is 7,971,889, covering 4,351,541 individuals.

3,744,802 individuals have completed the full vaccination regimen.

In addition, 129,787 doses of Sinovac vaccines have been administered as of Aug. 6, 2021, covering 81,555 individuals.

Overall trends

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 868 cases in the week before to 611 cases in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 256 cases in the week before to 170 cases in the past week.

The seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 63.0 and 24.3 respectively.

Condition of hospitalised cases

529 cases are currently warded in the hospital, most of whom are well and under observation.

There are currently 38 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and four in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Among these 42 cases, five are fully vaccinated. Of these, four require oxygen supplementation, while one requires ICU care due to underlying medical conditions.

In addition, 33 seniors above the age of 60, of whom 29 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, have fallen very ill, said MOH.

Over the last 28 days, 89 local cases required oxygen supplementation, were admitted to ICU or passed away.

Of these, 55 are unvaccinated, 26 are partially vaccinated, and eight are fully vaccinated.
