Assisi Hospice is appealing to the public for help to reunite a 71-year-old hospice patient with his family members.
The hospice provides palliative care to patients with life-limiting illnesses.
Their patient, Ng Teck Chiaw, also known as "Ah Ng", hopes to be reunited with his family.
Ng stayed with his son, who was known as "Ah Bert" or "Ah Leng" about 20 years ago, the hospice said in a Facebook post on Aug. 12.
After about two years of living with his son at Sembawang Drive, however, the family lost touch, and moved to a different residence since then.
Assisi Hospice did not specify why the family lost touch with Ng.
However, it said that Ng would like to reconnect with them, though "many methods" to get in touch with them yielded no results.
"Many patients’ wishes are related to reunions and reconciliations with their loved ones," the hospice wrote.
Those who are able to help can contact Assisi Hospice via Facebook messenger.
The post also contained an account of another 71-year-old patient, who was reunited with her son after 20 years.
This was possible thanks to the fact that she remembered her son's full name and the fact that he had been sent to an institution, and with the help of social workers.
After her son was located, special arrangements were made for her to visit him in a nursing home, where the two had a tearful embrace, even though "not many words were exchanged."
