The Ministry of Health (MOH) has debunked a Facebook post claiming that a three-year-old preschooler had died from Covid-19 at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH).

Post claimed three-year-old died from Covid-19

The post was uploaded by Facebook user Eileen Loh on Saturday (Aug. 14) and had over 100 shares in four hours.

It claimed that the child was admitted to KK Hospital with a high fever on August 8, adding that she was confirmed to have Covid-19.

The post also claimed that the girl passed away two days ago.

It further alleged that the Singapore government deliberately decided not to report the child's death.

Here's the full post:

In the comments section, Loh said that she had replied to MOH.

She also said that if she was spreading fake news, MOH should "take down the post and sue [her]".

"Completely untrue"

MOH clarified on the same day that the allegations made in the post are "completely untrue" and "a total fabrication".

The ministry added that as of Aug. 14, no child has died from Covid-19 at KKH.

"We urge the public to refrain from spreading rumours and misinformation," added the health ministry.

Ho Ching: "Please do not circulate fake news"

Ho Ching, CEO of Temasek Holdings and wife of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, also addressed the false allegations in a Facebook post.

She said:

"Please do not circulate the fake news below from Eileen Loh. Anyone who knows Eileen Loh, please alert her that this is untrue and wrong of her to put out wrongful allegations below.

I don’t know whose picture she used, but that is also a hurtful thing to do. Folks should always check with MOH for facts before starting to forward such dramatic allegations below."
