Waterspout spotted from Tanah Merah & other areas on Saturday morning

A waterspout was spotted in Singapore in the early morning of Saturday, July 10.

Various snaps of the waterspout were shared on Facebook group, CloudSpotting & SkySpotting Singapore.

A video of the waterspout was taken by Facebook user Muhammad Rifa'ie.

The video was taken from Tanah Merah.

Another individual who spotted it from Tanah Merah was Ayman Husna.

Speaking to Mothership, Ayman said she spotted the spout at around 7am, and that it lasted about 20 minutes.

According to The Straits Times, a reader said she saw the waterspout from her apartment in Bedok at around the same time, in the direction of Bedok Jetty.

A waterspout is a weather phenomenon that happens over coastal waters, when there is a difference in temperature between the atmosphere and the water body.

A waterspout usually lasts for a few minutes and will dissipate as it approaches the coast.
