Man, 43, arrested for allegedly snatching taxi driver's phone in Jurong West

He will be charged in court on Thursday (Jul. 22).

A taxi driver allegedly had his handphone snatched from him by a 43-year-old man on Monday (Jul. 19).

According to a police news release, the police received a report around 5:30pm on Jul. 19 from a taxi driver that his handphone was snatched from him by an unknown man along Jurong West Street 52.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the 43-year-old.

He was arrested the following day, Jul. 20, for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.

The man will be charged in court on Thursday (Jul. 22) with snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code.

If found guilty, he could face a prison term of at least one year and not more than seven years, as well as caning.
