Those who kept tabs on showbiz gossip back in the day may know that former Mediacorp actress Sharon Au and Thomas Ong used to date.

Their romantic relationship may not have lasted, but the friendship has persisted for decades, as Au has shown via a recent Instagram post.

Throwback photos

During a recent spring cleaning at her mother's house, 45-year-old Au discovered some old photographs, which she posted on July 24.

Two of the photos featured Ong, who is now 52.

Many users left comments, asking for the ex-lovers to get back together again.

A number of comments also pointed out the error of the year "1968", which is listed in Au's caption as the year Ong said the picture was taken in.

Ong was born in 1969 while Au was born in 1975, which makes it impossible for that picture of them to be taken that year.

Ong proposed to her... cat?

This is not the first time Au has shared her close friendship with Ong on her social media.

Previously on May 5, Au referred to Ong as "Singapore's Most Eligible Bachelor" when he proposed to adopt her cat, Rudon, when he turns 55.

It seemed that Ong could not resist that adorable cat and his soft meow.

The post from May had already fuelled many comments asking for the two to rekindle their love.
