A safe distancing ambassador (SDA) was seen on video using a measuring tape to ensure that a 1m distance was adhered to by members of the public in Singapore.

His antics were amusing to behold, given how he was observing both the letter and spirit of the law.

The incident, shared to TikTok on July 26, took place at the vicinity beside Paya Lebar MRT station.

Three women were seated in a row as a pair of SDAs approached one of them and used his measuring tape to ensure the woman was 1m away from the other woman to her left.

After the SDAs moved on from the spot, at least one man who was also seated along the parapet had to awkwardly shift to the left.

SDAs, nicknamed Singapore’s Red Ants or Red Army, have made a name for themselves locally at ensuring compliance with hastily slapped together pandemic rules over the last 20 months, such as being masked when in public and not congregating too closely to one another.
