Large groups of people have gathered at several spots in the Marina Bay area to witness the National Day Parade (NDP) rehearsals.

Large crowds

Singaporean composer and singer-songwriter Dick Lee posted this photo on his Instagram page, showing the crowd situation at the Esplanade Bridge both during the day and at night on Saturday (July 17).

Photographers can be seen at the front of the bridge while others gathered behind, without much safe distancing between one another.

Other pictures and videos online showed large crowds gathering near Marina Bay Sands (MBS) and the Merlion Park waterfront during the NDP rehearsal on July 17.

Crowds were also seen gathering outside MBS during the NDP rehearsal on July 10.

This year's NDP rehearsals took place on July 3, July 10 and July 17.

Another rehearsal will take place on July 24, and the NDP preview will take place on July 31.

Actual parade will be a physical event

The actual parade on National Day will be a physical event at The Float @ Marina Bay.

Spectators above the age of 12, who are eligible for the national vaccination programme, must be fully vaccinated before attending the event.

They must also undergo pre-event Covid-19 testing.

All NDP 2021 participants have also been vaccinated against Covid-19, and are routinely tested before each rehearsal in separate groups.
