A fire on the roof of the Ministry of National Development building in Tanjong Pagar was extinguished using a water jet, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) on Jul. 29.
SCDF said it was alerted to a fire at around 11:50pm on Jul. 28, at 9 Maxwell Road — the address of Annex A of the MND building.

Photos and video of the fire circulated online.
A video clip of the incident showed emergency services at the ground floor outside the building.
Photos in a tweet on Jul. 29 at 12:27am by user Kiran Zaveri provided a closer view of the fire, and of the smoke rising after the fire was extinguished.

In one of the photos, the outline of some burning objects can be seen.
The fire involved some furniture at the outdoor open space of the 23rd floor, said SCDF.
It added that there were no reported injuries.
The cause of fire is under investigation.
