Malaysian Olympic divers Pandelela Rinong Pamg and Leong Min Yee did not manage to win medals during the women's 10 metre synchronised platform event, Malay Mail reported.

The duo, said to be Malaysia's "best hope" for a medal in the event, finished in eighth place in the final.

Authentic reaction

Though the Sarawak-born Pandelela did not manage to clinch a medal, she definitely won the hearts of Malaysians with her reaction to the result.

A video clip of her possibly mouthing the word babi (pig) as her result was announced was making the rounds on Twitter.

She was seen in the video waiting for her result after her dive and uttered what seemed to be the word babi in dissatisfaction, and turned away.

However, instead of chiding her, online users were quick to chime in and hailed her "Malaysian spirit".

Some even called it the most Malaysian thing to do.

As the video only contained the commentator's voice and not hers, some Malaysians thought that she might not have said the word babi.

Instead she might have been saying the word habis (done/that's it).

Whatever it was, finishing in the top 10 in a world final is still a great achievement, as Malaysians offered encouragement.
