Covid-19 variants found in Malaysia

106 of the cases contain the Delta variant. 10 contain the Beta variant, and three contain the Alpha variant.

The variants were found from ongoing studies by the Institute of Medical Research and the Institution of Community Health and Medicine at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.

Hisham added:

"This brings the cumulative number of cases infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus categorised as VOCs and Variants of Interest (VOIs) to 429 cases.

Of the total detected, 409 cases were VOCs while 20 cases were VOIs."
