New series in "early development"
A new Pokémon series is apparently in "early development" at popular streaming site Netflix, according to Variety.
According to sources, the upcoming series will reportedly be written and executive produced by Netflix series "Lucifer" co-showrunner Joe Henderson.
Variety added that as the project is in its early days, there are no details on the plot as of yet.
Live-action series
The entertainment magazine said that sources shared that the project is said to be a live-action series, similar to the 2019 movie "Detective Pikachu".
The Verge noted that the streaming site has focused on live-action adaptations of popular games in recent times, citing The Witcher and Resident Evil.
Currently, the streaming service hosts several Pokémon series and movies including "Pokemon XY", "Pokémon Sun & Moon" and "Mewtwo Strikes Back".
