"I know many are feeling disappointed and frustrated about the recent Covid-19 cases at KTVs. I feel the same."

This was what Multi-Ministry Task Force co-chair Lawrence Wong said in a Facebook post on Wednesday evening (July 15).

Lawrence Wong: "Personal responsibility matters"

The MTF has been deliberating on additional measures to take given the KTV cluster, and an update will be given soon, he said.

Anyone who has been to these KTV lounges is also urged to "do the right thing", which is to get tested and isolate themselves, he wrote.

Such cases also demonstrate how "personal responsibility matters" in times of crisis.

KTV cluster

On July 15, it was announced that 33 new Covid-19 cases were found to be linked to the KTV cluster, as per the afternoon Covid-19 update.

This is in addition to 42 cases related to the cluster, announced on July 14.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is investigating cases of Covid-19 infection amongst social hostesses who had frequented KTV lounges or clubs currently operating as F&B outlets, and their close social contacts.

The first case reported from the cluster visited the GP clinic on July 11 with acute respiratory infection symptoms. The patient is a short-term visitor pass holder from Vietnam who had frequented many KTV outlets.

There is likely ongoing transmission at the following premises:

  • One Exclusive (114 Middle Road);
  • Level 9 (L9) (114 Middle Road);
  • Terminal 10 (Clarke Quay); and
  • Club M (114 Middle Road).

Those who have visited any KTV lounges or interacted with any hostesses in the past 14 days since June 29 are encouraged to get tested, health minister Ong Ye Kung said on Wednesday (July 14).
