You know National Day is coming when F&B brands start selling things in local flavours.
New items
Another one to make a relatively early move is KFC, by announcing new items of cereal fries and ondeh ondeh tarts to be launched on July 9, 2021.
The tarts feature molten brown sugar and pandan custard in a flakey pastry, topped with shredded dried coconut.
These will go for S$1.50 per piece, or S$5.50 for four pieces.
Where to buy: All outlets except Jewel Changi Airport, Jurong West Street 51, Nanyang Technological University, Paya Lebar Quarter, Punggol Oasis, Rivervale Mall, Toa Payoh Lorong 1, Singapore Poly, and Singapore Zoo.
On the other hand, the cereal fries are drizzled with butter mayonnaise and accompanied by sweet-savoury cereal.
The fries are also double-battered for an extra crisp texture.
Get them at S$3.20 as a meal add-on, or S$4.60 a la carte.
Where to buy: All KFC outlets except Singapore Poly, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Zoo.
Returning item
The fries appear to complement the return of the KFC cereal chicken, where the Hot & Crispy variation is tossed in a spice seasoning before being topped with Nestum cereal that has been wok-fried with curry leaves, chili, and butter. Very tze char.
The item comes in a number of meal configurations, starting from S$3.65 for an a la carte piece, or from S$8.95 to S$36.95 for increasingly large bundles.
Where to buy: All outlets except Singapore Poly, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Zoo.
The cereal chicken is returning for a limited time, while the cereal fries and ondeh egg tarts are only available for a "very limited time".
