Eight men and four women, aged between 16 and 28, are being investigated for alleged non-compliance with safe distancing measures.
Gathering in hotel
On July 4, 2021, the police said they received information of a gathering in a guest room of a hotel located along Scotts Road.
Officers found 12 persons allegedly socialising inside the room and consuming alcohol.
All 12 persons found in the room will also be investigated for alleged non-compliance with safe distancing measures.
Other charges
One of the men, aged 24, purportedly attempted to escape by punching a police officer in the face.
Another 23-year-old man also allegedly hurled vulgarities at the officers.
The 24-year-old man was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty, while the 23-year-old man was arrested for using abusive language against a public servant.
Investigations are ongoing.
Anyone found guilty of voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty are liable for imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, a fine or caning.
Anyone found guilty of using abusive words against public servant are liable for a fine not exceeding S$5,000, an imprisonment term not exceeding 12 months, or both.
