A Malaysian athlete trended on China's social media platform Weibo, after he caught the eye of several netizens for his "handsome face".

Welson Sim, 24, is a professional swimmer representing Malaysia in the Olympic games, in the 200m and 400m freestyle events.

"The Olympics has many god-like faces"

Sim's photos were shared by several netizens on the platform, in particular via the channel #奥运会真的好出神颜啊 (roughly translated to English: the Olympics has many god-like faces).

The channel currently has over 360 million views.

Some netizens commented that Sim was Malaysia's "Flying Fish" Prince, while others mused that a mask could not hide the athlete's attractive features.

According to the WorldofBuzz, Sim had also gotten his own close-up shot during the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, Sim's Instagram profile shows that outside of his athletic career, he is also an avid traveller, and enjoys riding motorbikes.
