"He sighed, shook his head in resignation and rode out in the heavy rain."
This was how one Petrina Ng described the scene involving a GrabFood rider at Balestier while she was "hiding from the heavy downpour".
According to Ng's Facebook post, which has gone viral with over 1,000 shares within a couple of hours, she said that the rider had just collected the food for his order.
He "stare[d] at the rain for a bit", and with "despair in his eyes", he decided to brave the rain.
A photo uploaded by Ng shows a delivery rider on a bicycle heading out in the downpour.
Expressing worry for the young man who had just cycled away, Ng said that delivering goods is "not an easy job" and even "dangerous" at times.
She also emphasised how it will be "nice to be a little kinder" to delivery people, and thanked delivery personnel for bringing convenience to our lives — especially in times when we do not want to leave the comfort of our own homes.
The comments in response to the post were also hugely supportive, with some sharing their own encounters with delivery riders.
