Food donations are running low for charity organisation Food from the Heart (Singapore).

The charity appealed to members of the public for donations on July 4.

What to donate?

On its website, they listed some non-perishable food items which will go into the community food packs that they will distribute to those in need. Do note that these food items should be dated at least three months before expiry.

Here are the items that they need:

• Rice, 1kg or 2kg
• Vermicelli/bee hoon
• Instant noodles
• Biscuits, less sugar
• Malt drinks, less sugar, e.g. Milo
• Coffee or tea, less sugar
• Canned fish/meat
• Canned vegetables - especially beans, mushrooms, peas
• Canned mock meat
• Canned soup
• Canned fruit
• Evaporated/condensed milk
• Cooking oil, 500ml or 1L
• Bread spread

Those in bold are urgently needed.

There are also food items which you can donate to their community shops at Mountbatten and Boon Lay where beneficiaries shop what they need freely.

• Coffee (no sugar)
• Tea in sachets
• Milo
• Assorted canned pork products
• Biscuits, tinned
• Canned fruit
• Canned fried dace
• Rice, 2.5kg
• UHT milk, 1L

Fresh fruits and packet drinks, such as the following, can only be donated during shop opening hours:

• Packed fresh fruit
• Soy bean milk, 1L (reduced sugar)
• Orange juice, 1L (reduced sugar)
• Apple juice, 1L (reduced sugar)

How to donate?

In view of Covid-19, monetary donations are preferred to in-kind food donations to avoid crowding.

You can donate via giving.sg, their website or addressing your cheque to Food from the Heart and mailing it to 130 Joo Seng Road #03-01 Singapore 368357.

For those who wish to donate the food items, you can deliver them to Food from the Heart warehouse and pass them to the in-charge called Kelvin.
