Hong Lim Market, Jurong Fishery Port & restaurant linked to 2 new Covid-19 clusters on Jul 16

All visitors to these premises and those who had interacted with social hostesses of any nationality are advised to monitor their health closely.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 61 new cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore as of 12pm on July 16.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases reported in Singapore to 62,913.

There are 53 new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 cases, of which 32 belong to the KTV cluster.

Hong Lim Market & Food Centre and Jurong Fishery Port closed

There are two new clusters today.

MOH is investigating cases of Covid-19 infection amongst individuals who worked in or visited Hong Lim Market & Food Centre (531A Upper Cross St) and Jurong Fishery Port.

So far, there are seven cases linked to the cluster.

To break the chain of transmission and enable deep cleaning of the premises, Hong Lim Market & Food Centre and Jurong Fishery Port will be closed to all members of the public from July 17 to July 31, 2021.

To quickly uncover any community infection cases, mandatory Covid-19 testing will be conducted for all visitors to Jurong Fishery Port between July 3 and July 16, 2021.

Free Covid-19 testing will be extended to members of the public who had visited Hong Lim Market & Food Centre between July 2 and July 16, 2021.

Closure of Khoi Grill & Hotpot

MOH is investigating cases of Covid-19 infection amongst individuals who work in or visited Khoi Grill & Hotpot at 283 Jalan Besar.

So far, there are seven cases linked to the cluster.

To break the chain of transmission and enable deep cleaning of the premises, Khoi Grill & Hotpot has been closed to all members of the public from July 16 to July 30, 2021.

All individuals who work in or visited the restaurant has been placed on quarantine and will be tested during quarantine.

The restaurant shared a Facebook post about the closure on July 14. On July 15, they updated that all staff including their chef has tested negative for Covid-19 so far.

Increase in community cases

The number of new cases in the community has increased from 21 cases in the week before to 179 cases in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from nine cases in the week before to 20 cases in the past week.

The seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 22.7 and 2.9 respectively.

In total, there are currently 27 active clusters, ranging between 3 to 120 infections

Of the 53 locally transmitted cases today, 24 are linked to previous cases and have already been placed on quarantine.

20 cases are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance.

Nine cases are currently unlinked.

Eight of the cases confirmed today were imported and had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Two were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while six developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

Progress of vaccination programme

As of July 16, MOH has administered a total of 6,570,666 doses of Covid-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme.

These doses cover 4,096,705 individuals.

2,545,838 individuals have completed the full vaccination regimen, consisting of 71,877 recovered persons who received at least one dose and 2,473,961 who received their second dose.

MOH continues to observe evidence that vaccination helps to prevent serious disease when one gets infected.

Over the last 28 days, 17 local cases required oxygen supplementation, were admitted to ICU or passed away.

13 are unvaccinated, four are partially vaccinated and none was fully vaccinated.

184 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation.

There are currently 7 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and one in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
