MOE working with S'pore police on River Valley High School case: Chan Chun Sing

Earlier today (July 19), a River Valley High student was allegedly attacked and killed by another student in school.

Statement from Minister of Education Chan Chun Sing

On the same day, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing wrote in a Facebook post:

" We are all shocked to receive news of the tragic incident at River Valley High School this morning. Our thoughts are with the families of the students concerned."

Chan added that the Ministry of Education (MOE) is rendering "all possible support" to the families of the students concerned, as well as the students and staff at the school.

MOE is also working closely with the Singapore Police Force (SPF) on the investigations.

The police will share more details on the case in due course, said Chan.

Chan also assured the public that the safety and well-being of students and staff are of "paramount importance to us".

He added:

"We are determined to work with parents and students to keep our schools safe and have our children grow up and learn together in a trusted environment.

To all our students:

We will take care of you as always. If you need to talk to anyone, or know someone who needs help, please reach out to an adult, your teachers or school counsellors. You are never alone, and we will always stand ready to help you."
