TikTok personality @mingweirocks, or Ng Ming Wei, tipped 10 cab drivers S$500 each out of his own pocket, amassing many comments and positive sentiments towards the gesture of goodwill.

Gave S$500 to 10 drivers

Ng, who's best known for his viral TikTok pranks with his dad, spoke for the first time on video.

He explained that he was going to give away S$5,000 to taxi drivers who are struggling in the pandemic.

He added that he would also be supporting some local food stalls along the way, and delivering the food to bus drivers.

In the video, Ng starts by talking to the different drivers about their day and how they were coping with the pandemic.

Many of them reflected about their reduced earnings and struggles.

Drivers touched at the gesture

Upon reaching the respective destinations, Ng would then ask if they accepted tips, before presenting the S$500 to them.

Most taxi drivers reacted to his tip of S$500 each with shock, and many immediately refused the gesture, finding it difficult to accept the amount of money given to them.

Some relented after Ng insisted, thanking him profusely, with one even tearing up after receiving the money.

Many of them were touched and grateful at the gesture, one remarking that he could go home after receiving the tip.
