It is one of the more recognisable cards from the series, being a staple of occasional antagonist Kaiba's deck.

This particular Blue-Eyes was attracting some real interest as well.

According to South China Morning Post, the auction reached a dizzying high of 87 million Yuan (S$18.08 million).

The usual price for this type of limited edition card, which is believed to be one of only 500 cards, range from 200,000 to 300,000 Yuan (S$41,550 to S$62,329).

According to Chinese media, 18,104 people signed up for the auction, with another 2.1 million onlookers.

SCMP reported that the auction was suspended as the prices being touted were inconsistent with the actual bidding price, and there were suspicions of malicious bidding behaviour.

The card had initially belonged to Zhang Yujie, who was jailed after embezzling nearly 70 million yuan.
