A restaurant in Yishun – SEA Kitchen – will be giving out 500 free lunches to the taxi driving uncles and aunties in Singapore on June 16 and June 17.
500 boxes
A SEA Kitchen spokesperson told Mothership that the restaurant hopes to thank and give back to these "unsung heroes" through the free lunches.
Located in Orto, the restaurant will set up a drive through collection point for taxi drivers to collect the lunches.
Taxi drivers simply have to turn up in their vehicles to be eligible to collect their lunches.
A different lunch will be served on each day: Chicken Cashew Nut Rice on June 16 and Basil Chicken Rice on June 17.
Both lunch dishes will come with a Thai Iced Tea drink.
The SEA Kitchen spokesperson told Mothership that no pork or lard will be used in the preparation of the lunches.
However, SEA Kitchen is not halal certified.
Parking is free in ORTO and taxi drivers can take a break and enjoy their meals within the compound.
