Tokyo Olympics official dies after jumping in front of train

He jumped from the passenger platform onto the tracks.

A man jumped from the passenger platform onto the tracks at Tokyo's Nakanobu subway station on Monday morning (June 7).

According to SoraNews, he was hit by an oncoming train and was rushed to the hospital.

However, his injuries were too severe and he passed away two hours after being hit by the train.

The man has been identified as Yasushi Moriya, 52, a high-ranking executive of the Japanese Olympic Committee.

According to Reuters, the police are investigating the details surrounding the death, they are viewing this as an apparent suicide.
