Man, 27, taunts & hurls vulgarities at police officers while getting arrested at Balestier Road

On June 20, a man was captured in a TikTok video shouting vulgarities and taunting police officers who were trying to restrain and arrest him.

Mocking police officers, shouting vulgarities

According to a TikTok video that has since been shared over a hundred times, police were seen trying to restrain a man along Balestier Road.

The TikTok user, @sonixbern, said in the video that she was on her way home when she witnessed the commotion between the man who did not don a mask and a group of police officers.

In the video, about five officers can be seen trying to restrain the man and pin him to the boot of a police car as he attempted to free himself.

However, the man continued to force his way out out the officers' grasp.

During the struggle, the man taunted and shouted vulgarities at the police officers present at the scene.

The man shouted, "So many people cannot bring me down!"

He also laughed mockingly, refusing to back down.

Allegedly caused annoyance to public when drunk

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said that its police officers came across a dispute at 230 Balestier Road on June 20 at around 2:00am.

"A 27-year-old man was subsequently arrested for allegedly causing annoyance to the public when drunk, using abusive language against a public servant and using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty."

The man is also being investigated for suspected drink-driving, said the SPF.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Penalties if guilty

If found guilty of causing public annoyance, he may be punished with imprisonment for a term of up to six months, or with fine of up to S$5,000, or both.

If found guilty of using abusive language against a public servant, he may face an imprisonment term of up to 12 months, or a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.

If found guilty of assaults or uses criminal force to any person being a public servant in the execution of his duty, he may face imprisonment for a term up to four years, or a fine, or both.
