During the trip, Morrison will be meeting Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana, where they will be holding a joint virtual press conference.
According to Sydney Morning Herald, Morrison will go through a Covid-19 swab test on arrival at Singapore’s Changi airport before his meeting with PM Lee.
Morrison is stopping by Singapore on the way to the G7 summit in the United Kingdom, where he is expected to have his first physical meeting with United States President Joe Biden.
Morrison and PM Lee will be discussing matters related to the Singapore-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) during the meeting.
The Australian prime minister last visited Singapore in June 2019 for the 4th Leaders' Meeting.
The previous Leaders’ Meeting was held virtually in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Singapore-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
Singapore and Australia established a CSP in June 2015 to deepen and broaden engagement and collaboration.
The bilateral Leaders’ Meeting was established under the Singapore-Australia CSP for the prime ministers of both countries to meet annually to discuss bilateral cooperation and exchange views on regional and international developments.
The CSP comprises five pillars -- economics and trade; defence, security and foreign policy; innovation and science; people-to-people engagement; and digital economy.
