A man in Singapore was pulled over by a traffic police officer while riding his motorbike.

But instead of receiving a ticket for traffic violation, he got a small gift in return for wearing his full safety gear.

On June 7, Facebook user Lee Joonmin took to the social media platform to share about his unexpected encounter with a traffic police officer.

Lee was riding along Woodlands Road when he saw a traffic police motorbike tailing him.

The officer was flashing his lights and gesturing Lee to pull over.

Lee immediately thought that he was being pulled over for riding too fast or forgetting to signal, and that it would land him a hefty fine or demerit points.

But the unexpected happened.

The traffic police commented on Lee's safety gear and praised him for wearing them.

The safety gear he had on included his safety jacket, boots, riding pants with padding and armoured gloves.

The traffic police also presented him with a gift and said that Lee was a good role model to other motorcyclist out there.

The gift had a "TP Use Your Roadsense" reusable mask, an EZ-Link card, a hand sanitiser, a wet tissue packet and a pouch.

While Lee has heard of motorcyclists being stopped and praised by traffic police officers before, he thought it only happened in the past and that this initiative was no longer practiced.

When asked why he donned all this heavy gear, Lee told Mothership:

"I chose to wear safety gear because I have felt what it was like to crash, as during my first month of riding I crashed a [total of] three times!

After that, I learned my lesson. Also, the horrific crash videos and pictures that the driving schools show you upon graduation did make an impact upon me."
