There are several acceptable reactions when one encounters a cockroach: shouting, screaming, crying, or some combination of the above.

For one man in Thailand, however, another possible reaction involves sending it to a vet.

He had decided to do so after realising that the critter was injured, having apparently been stepped on, The Dodo reported.

The incident came to light when vet Thanu Limpaphatthanavanic posted about it on Facebook on May 25, 2021.

"This is not a joke. This indicates compassion and pity towards every creature. Everyone's life is loved... I wish there were more people like this in the world," Thanu wrote.

The doctor initially pegged the cockroach's chance of survival at 50/50.

According to The Dodo, Thanu treated the cockroach free of charge as he was moved by the man's kindness.

The insect was housed in an oxygen chamber to aid its recovery, and the vet said that he would release the cockroach into the care of its rescuer when the time is right.

By the next morning, the insect appeared to be recovering well, multiple media outlets reported.
