Lawrence Wong has no problem seeing the lighter side of things during a pandemic.

The Multi-ministry Taskforce (MTF) co-chair put up an Instagram post on June 2, acknowledging the latest meme to come out from a Covid-19 press conference on May 31.

The politician was referring to a moment when panel members Ong Ye Kung and Gam Kim Yong looked directly at him, hinting overtly that he should handle a reporter's question about a variant of the virus found in Vietnam.

After returning them with a look, Wong took the microphone and began tackling the question.

The snippet later spawned numerous memes about Wong being "arrowed" to answer a difficult question.

In response, Wong said that he had a "good laugh" when he saw the meme about being pinpointed to be the designated spokesperson.

"It’s really not about who answers the questions. My fellow co-chairs (@ongyekung and @gankimyong) and I work closely together to fight the pandemic," Wong wrote.

It appears that Wong has won himself some fans by taking the meme in good humour.

Several Instagram users laughed along with him, while one commented that he "took it gracefully".
