Popular as he is, Singaporean Mandopop singer JJ Lin is not immune to the ill effects of Covid-19, as his cafe in Taiwan has been affected by the country's community outbreak.

Sales at Miracle Coffee cafe in the eastern district of Taipei have dropped up to 50 per cent, Yahoo Taiwan reported.

JJ Lin's cafe applies for financial aid

While business has taken a hit from the pandemic, the cafe said that they will not be retrenching any employees or cutting their salaries.

According to Apple Daily Taiwan, the cafe has made adjustments to their menu and tried to improve sales via the delivery model.

Lin's business partner has applied for financial aid, but Lin was apparently not aware of that, and only got to know about it from the news.

Following media reports, Lin has drawn some flak from the cafe's application for financial aid.

Netizens left criticism in response to the cafe's application for governmental aid, pointing out that it is ironic to do so given Lin's wealth.

Lin is not involved in cafe's operation

Lin, however, clarified through his manager that the application was made by his business partner, Apple Daily Taiwan reported on June 21.

His manager said that Lin is not involved in the cafe's operations.

A reporter who visited the cafe recently said that there are more staff members than customers in the cafe.

An employee also told the reporter that Lin seldom visits the cafe since its opening.

While Lin does not drop by the cafe often, he occasionally posts about Miracle Coffee as a form of support.
