Several Hua Zai roasted meat outlets still operating unrelated to those closed due to Covid-19 transmission

Slightly confusing.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) recently announced the closure of all 26 Hua Zai outlets across Singapore.

On June 1, MOH said it was investigating cases of Covid-19 infection among individuals working at Hua Zai outlets, which sell Hong Kong style roasted meat.

Investigations indicated that there is likely an ongoing transmission among these employees.

All Hua Zai outlets were to remain closed to the public from June 1 for 14 days, and will reopen on June 15.

Same name

However, members of the public have noticed that several Hua Zai outlets are still in operation.

A Mothership reader shared a photo of one outlet located at Block 201 Tampines Street 21 that was still operating.

The photo was taken on June 4.

Some Hua Zai outlets are also available for food delivery on GrabFood.

When Mothership went down to the Tampines Street 21 outlet to clarify the situation, the stall holder revealed that they are unrelated to the 26 other Hua Zai outlets that MOH ordered to close.

There are around six to seven other Hua Zai outlets that are still operating, and these are owned by a different boss.

This is despite them having the exact same name as the 26 Hua Zai outlets.

The stall holder assured that they did not receive any orders from MOH mandating for them to close.

Different management

In response to Mothership's queries, MOH confirmed that other Hua Zai outlets remain open as they are franchised outlets under different management from the 26 closed outlets.

MOH's investigations found that staff from the 26 affected outlets are not cross-deployed at the franchised outlets.

Here's the full list of the 26 closed outlets owned by three different companies, as provided by MOH:
