Local actor Gurmit Singh was fined S$800 and handed a three month driving ban for speeding according to CNA.

On Jun. 8, he pleaded guilty to one count under the Road Traffic Act for exceeding the speed limit while driving a vehicle.

According to charge sheets seen by Mothership, the Phua Chu Kang actor was caught speeding on the evening of Apr. 12, 2021, driving 131km/h along Woodlands Avenue 12 where the speed limit is 70km/h.

Singh said in court that his speeding had come about after he heard a "flapping sound" which seemed to occur when his vehicle travelled above 100km/h.

According to CNA, Singh had just picked his son up from work; "I wanted him to hear the same sound," he said.

Singh told the court that the incident was just a one-off and that he does not usually drive recklessly.

However, he was admonished by District Judge Salina Ishak for putting his son's life in danger.

The Straits Times reported that Singh is believed to have been driving an Audi A8 L.
