All travellers entering Singapore, with travel history to China's Guangdong province within the last 21 days, will have to undergo a Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test upon arrival.

This will take place from 11:59pm on Friday, July 2.

Border measures relaxed for travellers with travel history to Guangdong in last 21 days

The Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MMT) announced this in a press release issued on Wednesday, June 30.

The decision was taken as the situation in Guangdong has improved, the MMT said.

Previously, all travellers with travel history to Guangdong province within the last 21 days before departure to Singapore were already subject to a Covid-19 PCR test upon arrival.

However, they also had to complete a seven-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) at their place of residence, and a Covid-19 PCR test before the end of the SHN period.

The MMT added that short-term visitors with travel history to Guangdong in the last 21 days before departure for Singapore can apply for an Air Travel Pass (ATP) with immediate effect, for entry into Singapore on or after July 7.

Travellers who are already serving their 7-day SHN at their place of residence as of 11:59pm on July 2 will still be required to complete their 7-day SHN and exit swab.

All other travellers with travel history to mainland China (excluding Guangdong) in the last 21 days prior to travel will continue to be subject to a Covid-19 test upon arrival at the airport, in lieu of their SHN.

Travellers from Australia to serve 7-day SHN at place of residence

In addition, given the increased cases observed in Australia, the MMT will be tightening border control measures for travellers with travel history to Australia from 23:59pm on July 2.

Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents, and Long-Term Pass holders entering Singapore with travel history to Australia, within the last 21 days before departure for Singapore, will be subject to a Covid-19 PCR test upon arrival.

In addition, they will serve a 7-day SHN at their place of residence, and take a Covid-19 PCR test before the end of the SHN period.

The MMT also reiterated that short-term travellers holding an ATP, with travel history to Australia within the last 21 days before departure for Singapore, will not be allowed to enter Singapore.
