M2 Cafe, a social enterprise offering employment opportunities to differently-abled persons, is giving out free bowls of soup and rice from now till July 2.
This is part of an initiative co-organised by M2 Cafe and KampungBishan, and sponsored by Free food For All, Fridge Restock Community SG, and Little India Veggie Collection.
A total of 100 bowls of soup and rice will be distributed in takeaway containers daily, from now till July 2, every Monday to Friday between 12pm and 2pm.
In addition, a representative can collect a free bowl of soup and rice for individuals who cannot physically go to the venue on their own.
Though the food is not halal-certified, it does not contain pork or lard. A vegetarian option will also be available for those who request it.
A good cause
In a Facebook post, the organisers pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic has been a tough time for many.
They added that they know friends and family members who have lost their jobs:
"We all know of friends who have lost their jobs or their business has had to close down. We know relatives who have had a pay cut. We know community members who have had to take on a second job to make ends meet.
We know neighbours who have completely lost their careers. Maybe these people need a bit of encouragement, a bit of help, a bit of hope in this temporary phase of life. Maybe they can’t sleep at night because they’re worried about how to pay the bills this month. We’ve all been there. We’ve all been that person at some point of time in our lives."
Thus, they hope to offer these individuals a free meal.
Address: M2 Cafe, 1 Coleman Street #B1-40, The Adelphi Mall, Singapore 179803.
Collection time and date: 12 to 2pm, Monday to Friday till July 2.
