19-year-old Hwa Chong Institution student is the sole unlinked Covid-19 case in S'pore on June 4

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 13 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore as of 12pm on June 4, 2021.

This brings the total number of cases to 62,158.

There are seven new cases of locally-transmitted Covid-19 infection. The evening report updated that six are linked to previous cases and one remains unlinked.

One unlinked case

The sole unlinked case announced today is Case 64029, a 19-year-old male Singaporean who is a student at Hwa Chong Institution.

He was last in school on May 18.

He developed a fever, sore throat and body aches on June 2 and sought medical treatment at a General Practitioner (GP) clinic on June 3, where he underwent both an antigen rapid test (ART) and a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. He was immediately isolated when his ART result came back positive.

His PCR test result also came back positive for Covid-19 infection on the same day.

His serology test result is pending.

Summary of new cases linked to previous cases

There are six new community cases linked to previous Covid-19 cases.

Of these six cases:

  • Two are related to the Hong Ye Group cleaners cluster
  • Two are related to the Case 63892 cluster (Case 63892 is a 68-year-old male Singaporean who works as a manager at Phoenix Entertainment Karaoke TV Music Lounge Pte Ltd. He was confirmed to have Covid-19 on May 30.)
  • Two are related to the Case 63922 cluster (Case 63922 is a 56-year-old female Singaporean who is a homemaker. She was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on May 31.)

Six imported cases

In addition, there are six imported cases today, two of whom are Singaporeans.

Four are Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from India and the UAE.

All of them had already been placed on SHN upon arrival in Singapore, and were tested while serving SHN.

23 more cases discharged

A total of 23 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 61,580 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged.

There are currently 229 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital, with two in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 316 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

A total of 33 people have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
