I tried the Chicken McCrispy for the first time & understand the hype in S'pore now

How does it compare to McWings and McSpicy?

However, the item will not be available at the following six outlets:

  • McDonald’s Shell Tampines
  • McDonald’s Shell Hougang
  • McDonald’s Shell Havelock
  • McDonald’s Clementi Avenue 3
  • McDonald’s Parklane

Taste test

I have not had the privilege of tasting the popular Chicken McCrispy (ever), so this was all new to me.

It felt a bit strange receiving a bucket of fried chicken from McDonald's, when I associate it more with rival fast food chains specialising in fried chicken (ahem).

Each Value Bundle comes with three drumsticks and three thighs, which is great for my family as none of us appreciates chicken breast meat.

I didn't manage to reach the chicken for my first bite due to the thick batter.

The batter was crispy but wasn't the crispiest I've had, perhaps due to the fact that I did not attend to it immediately as I was stuck in a meeting.

Nonetheless, the chicken remained succulent.

As someone who has a low tolerance for spice but also enjoys torturing herself with the McSpicy, I would say McDonald's description of "mildly spicy" is a bit of an understatement for those with low tolerance for spice.

Unlike the somewhat aggressive kick of the McSpicy, the spice built up gradually as I continued taking more bites. The burn was generally bearable and I found myself inching towards the ice-cold Coke rather than running towards it for my dear life (as I do for the McSpicy).

The difference in spice levels is also why I will not be giving up on the McSpicy just yet, but will instead allow both to co-exist on my dining table — to the detriment of my bowels, perhaps.

But if your spice tolerance is extremely low and you prefer to play it safe, stick to McWings.
