Two individuals who spend time at 115 Bukit Merah View Market and Hawker Centre tested positive for Covid-19.
Following these developments, the market and food centre is closed for a period of three days from June 13 to 15, 2021 to facilitate deep cleaning and disinfection of the premises.
According to a Facebook post by Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC Joan Pereira, the town council, the National Environment Agency and the Bukit Merah View Merchants' Committee are engaging the stallholders to inform them of the closure and to assist with any queries.Covid-19 cases detected through surveillance
Both cases were detected through MOH's surveillance. It was not specified if they work at the same sundry store:
Case 64132
- 74-year-old male Singaporean who works at a sundry store at the market
- Developed a cough on June 8, and sore throat on June 9, sought medical treatment at a General Practitioner clinic on June 9
- Immediately isolated when Antigen Rapid Test (ART) result came out positive
- PCR test result came back positive on June 9
- Serology test result is pending
- Received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Mar. 16, second dose on Apr. 6
Case 64158
- 82-year-old female Singaporean who regularly helps out at a sundry store at the market
- Developed a fever and short of breathness on June 10 and sought medical treatment at a polyclinic on June 11
- Immediately isolated when ART result came out positive
- PCR test result came back positive on June 11
- Serology test result is pending
- Received first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Mar. 29, second dose on Apr. 19
