Late casino tycoon Stanley Ho reportedly buried in S$1.36 million coffin a year after death

The burial plot cost approximately over S$170,000.

Macau casino tycoon and billionaire Stanley Ho's body has finally been buried on May 30, 2021.

This comes more than a year after his death on May 26, 2020 at age 98.

The funeral processions that were held on July 8 and 9, 2020 were attended by over 100 politicians and celebrities from Hong Kong and Macau.

The burial

Initially kept in the Hong Kong Funeral Home, Ho's body was transported to Tung Wah Coffin Home while an auspicious date for his burial is being selected by a fengshui master, Hong Kong media reported. 

According to HK01, the burial took placed at Chiu Yuen Cemetery at around 10:45am on May 30, 2021.

Second son Lawrence Ho held the funeral portrait of his deceased father, with Ho's other sons, Orlando Ho, Arnaldo Ho, and Mario Ho by his side.

Daughter Josie Ho, her husband Conroy Chan, and Ho's three wives and other daughters were also present at the scene when Ho's body arrived at the cemetery.

Police were on site to ensure traffic flow, United Daily News reported.

Coffin and burial plot

According to Sohu, Ho's coffin is worth approximately HK$8,000,000 (S$1.36 million).

It is made of golden-thread nanmu, a rare top-notch wood used for royal architecture that is worth more than gold.

The coffin required at least eight to ten men to lift, with more men on stand-by to assist.

Another Sohu report claimed that Ho's burial plot that faces a sea view and is surrounded by beautiful scenery costs approximately HK$1,000,000 (S$170, 343,60).

Ho will be buried next to his father, Ho Sai-kwong.
