Leonard Teo Min Xuan, a Singaporean, admitted to his role in running the SG Nasi Lemak chat group, Straits Times reported.

The Telegram chat group contained obscene photos and videos, with many believed to involve women in Singapore.

Transmitted obscene material

The 27-year-old was charged with offences such as transmitting obscene material via electronic means, according to court documents seen by Mothership.

The documents also stated that 99 obscene videos and 427 images of pornographic material were found in his possession at a Pasir Ris flat.

Teo was one of the group's administrators, and is also the last of four men to admit to being part of the chat group, according to ST.

The other three offenders had pleaded guilty earlier.

Covered his face & ran away

After pleading guilty and leaving the court building, he used a piece of white paper to cover his face, Lianhe Zaobao reported

It is believed that a friend, who had exited the building earlier, had informed him about the photographers.

When Teo realised that he was still being photographed even after covering his face, he immediately started running.

A photo of Teo running with his back to photographers was published by Lianhe Zaobao.

Background to SG Nasi Lemak

In 2019, four men were arrested for their suspected involvement in the chat group.

One of the administrators of the SG Nasi Lemak Telegram chat group, Liong Tianwei, has been sentenced to nine weeks' jail and a S$26,000 fine on March 9, 2021.

Liong, 39, a father of two, was found with 8,139 obscene photos and 3,083 obscene videos on his devices.

Investigations revealed that Leong and Teo were the administrators behind the chat group.

Two others, who were teenagers when they were arrested, were found to be the distributors of the obscene materials.

Both of them were placed on probation, according to ST.
