S'pore man, 64, gets into confrontation with 81-year-old, allegedly pulls gold necklace from his neck

The police has arrested a man, 64, for his suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.

Victim was 81-year-old man

A police news release on May 7 stated that they were alerted to the case at French Road around 4:35am, on May 6.

The man had gotten into a confrontation with an 81-year-old man.

The 64-year-old allegedly pulled a gold necklace from the victim’s neck and fled the scene.

The victim fell, suffered lacerations on his head and was conveyed to the hospital.

Through ground enquiries, the man was arrested within eight hours.

Cash amounting to S$1,718, as well as the stolen gold necklace, were subsequently recovered.

The man will be charged in court on May 8.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
