As the residents of 506 Hougang Avenue 8 get ready for mandatory Covid-19 tests, Pritam Singh expressed appreciation to staff from various agencies for their part in setting up the swabbing facility at the block's void deck.

The Leader of the Opposition joined fellow Aljunied GRC MP Gerald Giam in visiting the block this morning (May 21).

"Thankful for the support of staff from various agencies including National Environment Agency and People's Association in the effort," he wrote in a Facebook post.

He also thanked a team of conservancy workers from Aljunied-Hougang Town Council for their thorough wipe-down of the block, as well as other town council staff for helping in communications with the residents.

Residents asked to follow predetermined timing

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), testing will be conducted at 506 Hougang Avenue 8's void deck from May 21 to 22.

Singh wrote in his Facebook post of the "key concern" over residents crowding the void deck as soon as the swabbing facility opens at 1pm.

He asked the residents to stick to indicative timing for testing sent to them by the Health Promotion Board via SMS.

This would ensure that the safe distancing ambassadors deployed at the block would not have a difficult time, he wrote.

"As of now, residents from the lower floors will be tested today while those on the upper levels will be tested tomorrow."

Giam reminded residents to bring their NRIC and TraceTogether token or app when it was their turn for testing.

"Try to keep at least 2m distance from other residents," he added.
