S'pore police to take action against 25 massage parlours for not ensuring staff, customers wear a mask

Enforcement action will be taken against 25 massage establishments in Singapore after checks by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) found they were not adhering to safe management measures.

In addition, 23 individuals were also found not wearing masks during their massage.

According to a May 26 news release by the SPF, the massage establishments may be fined between S$1,000 and S$2,000 while individuals may be fined S$300 and S$1,000, depending on the seriousness of the breaches.

In total, the police conducted enforcement checks on some 850 massage establishment over the last two weeks.

It was part of an increased effort to ensure that all staff and customers adhered to Covid-19 restrictions and the existing rules under the Massage Establishments Act.

Massage establishment operators who do not comply with safe management measures may also be liable for prosecution under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020.

Members of the public who do not comply with safe distancing measures may also be jailed for up to six months, fined up to S$10,000, or both.
