Man, 21, arrested for allegedly attacking father with sharp object at Commonwealth

His 21-year-old son had left the scene before the police arrived.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means, the police said in a news release on May 12.

On May 10, 2021 at around 11:20pm, the police were alerted to a case where a 41-year-old man was allegedly attacked by his son with a sharp object along Commonwealth Avenue West.

The 41-year-old man suffered multiple injuries and was brought conscious to the hospital.

His 21-year-old son had left the scene before the police arrived.

Preliminary investigations uncovered that both men supposedly had a dispute prior to the incident.

21-year-old man arrested within four hours

The 21-year-old man was arrested within four hours of the reported crime.

Officers from Clementi Police Division and Jurong Police Division had established his whereabouts through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras.

He will be charged in court later today (May 12) for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
