The Istana's planned open house for Hari Raya Puasa has been cancelled.

A press release from the office of the President said the move came in view of the Covid-19 Multi-ministry Taskforce's latest guidance to reduce social interactions.

"Since we announced the restarting of this Istana Open House (IOH), there has unfortunately been an increase in the number of local COVID-19 cases."

"We have therefore decided to err on the side of caution and cancel the IOH," read the release.

Those who had successfully obtained their tickets for the May 13 open house will be able to gain admission to the next one using their existing tickets.

May 13's open house would have been the first time the Istana received visitors from the public since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event was meant to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa and Labour Day.

Would-be visitors will instead have to wait till the Singapore's Covid-19 situation improves.
